Disturbing allegations are emerging from Kuch Tander Khel, Kalabagh, Tehsil Isa Khel, District Mianwali, involving SHO Kalabagh Kaleemullah Khan.
According to local accounts, a poor family had approached the authorities with a complaint against an influential individual. Instead of receiving protection and justice, they allege that they were subjected to retaliation — culminating in their home being damaged or demolished during a police operation.
If these allegations are correct, this is not law enforcement.
It is the use of state power to intimidate the weak and protect the powerful.
A poor family has little more than the roof over its head. If that roof can be destroyed simply because they dared to complain against someone influential, then what protection does an ordinary citizen have?
Serious questions must be answered:
On whose orders was action taken against this house?
Was there any lawful demolition or search order?
Why was the family targeted after reportedly filing a complaint against an influential person?
What was SHO Kaleemullah Khan’s role in the operation?
And who will compensate the family if their property was unlawfully destroyed?
The DPO Mianwali and Punjab Police must immediately order an independent and transparent inquiry, preserve all police records and video evidence from the operation, and make the findings public.
A uniform does not give anyone the right to terrorise citizens.
If the police become a weapon in the hands of the powerful, who will protect the poor?
