Saida Ayub: Male police manhandled women and used foul language: MORE QUESTIONS SURROUND THE RAID THAT ENDED IN ISHTIAQ AHMED’S DEATH

PTI leader Sadia Ayub has described what she says happened when police raided a Milad gathering in Dr Yasmin Rashid’s constituency — the same incident during which Ishtiaq Ahmed suffered catastrophic burns and later died.

According to Sadia Ayub:

Police stormed the Milad gathering while hurling abusive language. I was forcibly taken to the police station by a plain-clothes police officer. More than 30 women were locked inside a room, and the door was locked from outside.

Her testimony raises further serious questions about the conduct of police during the operation.

This was not an ordinary law-and-order situation. A religious gathering was raided, women were allegedly detained and locked inside a room, participants say they were subjected to abuse and intimidation, and during the same operation Ishtiaq Ahmed was severely burned — injuries that ultimately claimed his life.

Now the public deserves answers:

Who ordered the raid?
Why were women allegedly confined inside a locked room?
Why were plain-clothes personnel involved in detentions?
What exactly happened to Ishtiaq Ahmed during the operation?
And who will be held accountable for his death?

The accounts emerging from that night must not be investigated in isolation. The raid, the treatment of participants, Ishtiaq Ahmed’s injuries, his subsequent death, and the conduct of police afterward all require one transparent and independent investigation.

The truth cannot be buried with Ishtiaq Ahmed.
