Is Lt General Rahat Khan real ruler of Balochistan?

Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmed Khan, the former Quetta Corps Commander, was one of the most powerful figures in Balochistan.

Based in Quetta, he commanded the Pakistan Army’s XII Corps, exercising significant authority over military and security operations across the province.

His prominent involvement alongside the provincial government raises a fundamental question about the balance of power in Balochistan.

How much authority rests with the elected provincial government, and how much influence is exercised by the military establishment?

Under Pakistan’s Constitution, Balochistan must be governed through its elected civilian institutions. The extent of military involvement in provincial decision-making deserves public scrutiny.

The people of Balochistan deserve transparent, accountable government and meaningful civilian authority over their province.
