Brigadier Faiq, who was posted in Lahore, held the rank of Colonel at the time and, despite being a Colonel, managed all the affairs of the Sector Commander.
He received direct orders from above for all the atrocities committed in Punjab. “Above” refers to the level of Asim Munir. It is said that in return for this oppression, his promotion was also out of turn. He was sent to Azad Kashmir to adopt the Punjab-style model, which resulted in firing on protesters.
