The awarding of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to Dr. Anam Fatima, Deputy DG Enforcement and Director Municipal Administration Islamabad, has sparked strong debate in political and administrative circles over merit and recognition.
Her only widely noted public achievement is the 2024 rejection of nomination papers of Chaudhry Moonis Elahi during the electoral process, a decision that gained significant political attention at the time.
Following this, she was not only given multiple key administrative appointments, including roles beyond her official grade structure, but was also later awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the government.
The development has raised questions among critics regarding the criteria for high-level postings and national awards, and whether decisions of a political nature are being rewarded through state honours.
