Authorities have demolished a dera (guest house) belonging to the family of Khawaja Mehran Arshad, Advocate, a core member of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), in Dadyal, Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The demolition, carried out on the night of September 29–30, has raised serious concerns about the treatment of activists and their families.
While the administration claims the structure was illegally built on state land, the timing of the action has prompted allegations that it was intended to intimidate a prominent voice in the ongoing rights movement.
Was this a legitimate enforcement action, or an attempt to silence dissent?
The authorities must provide evidence of lawful procedure and explain whether due process was followed.
The right to peaceful protest, freedom of expression and protection from arbitrary state action must be respected.
The greater the repression, the stronger the determination to resist injustice through peaceful means.

His only “crime”: speaking for basic rights.
We used to hear that India demolishes Kashmiri homes on the other side and that Israeli forces demolish Palestinian homes.
