Pakistan’s security establishment is influencing state agencies to suppress political opposition and dissent. Brigadier Rizwan Sharif, as the ISI Sector Commander for Punjab and Colonel Khaldun wardens of infanous Chirya Ghar, are connected to a crackdown on PTI and dissenting voices.
This reflect a broader fear that Pakistan has slided toward authoritarian rule, with the establishment using state institutions to pressure political opponents. These officers are responsible of unlawful surveillance, detention and coercion.
The security agency should not be used to crush a political party or silence lawful dissent. They represent a serious abuse of power and a threat to democratic rights.
