Aleema Khan was taken into custody on orders of Lahore Deputy Commissioner Captain Muhammad Ali Ijaz while on a routine visit outside her home and later found to be at Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Her “crime”? Wanting to meet her brother, Imran Khan, through lawful means.
An MPO order has been issued against her. On what grounds? For exercising a basic right? For asking to meet her own brother?
This is what the authoritarian use of state power looks like administrative orders being used to silence, intimidate and punish people who refuse to surrender their rights.
If there is a lawful case, present it. If there is evidence, show it. But stop weaponising the state to harass a woman whose only demand is to meet her brother.
Power cannot make injustice lawful.
End this abuse of authority. Respect the law. Respect basic human rights.
