Islamabad police took lawyer and activist Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha into custody again shortly after their release. Police were said to have taken them from Adiala Jail and departed with them.
The re-arrests raise serious questions about the legal basis for their detention and whether due process is being respected. When people are released only to be taken back into custody, law and justice risk becoming a laughing stock, while “might is right” appears to prevail.
