ISHTIAQ AHMED DESERVES JUSTICE
PTI worker Ishtiaq Ahmed has died after suffering devastating burns during a police raid on an Eid Milad gathering in Lahore.
According to eyewitness and political accounts, chaos erupted during the raid and Ishtiaq Ahmed was engulfed in boiling oil, leaving more than half of his body severely burned. Serious allegations have also been raised that precious time was lost before he was provided medical assistance. After fighting for his life in hospital, he has now passed away.
Even after his death, questions remain. Reports from his funeral describe a heavy police deployment, with the burial taking place under police presence and allegations that people attempting to record the proceedings were harassed.
This case demands an independent, transparent investigation into the raid, the circumstances that led to Ishtiaq Ahmed’s fatal injuries, the alleged delay in medical assistance, and the conduct of every officer involved.
The roles and command responsibility of the following officials must be investigated:
SHO Sanda Police Station — Rizwan Cheema
SHO Iqbal Town — Adil
DSP Zakria
SP Iqbal Town — Sidra Khan
No uniform, office or political authority should place anyone above the law.
Who ordered the raid?
Who was commanding the operation?
Why did a political worker end up fighting for his life with catastrophic burns?
Was immediate medical assistance provided?
And who will be held accountable for his death?
Ishtiaq Ahmed’s family deserves answers. Pakistan deserves accountability.
An impartial FIR, preservation of all CCTV/video evidence, identification of every officer present, and an independent judicial investigation must follow.
